Special Olympics 2015: World Games Dates, Events
Thousands of athletes from 177 countries have
descended upon Los Angeles for the 2015 Special Olympics World Games,
which is set to begin Saturday.
The Special Olympics celebrates the athleticism of those with
intellectual disabilities, with roots dating all the way back to 1968.
It has been a while since the World Summer Games took place on American
soil. In 1999, Raleigh, North Carolina, played host to the competition.
